Paula first got involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters when she was on the board of directors, but it was when she learned more about one match that sparked some interest. Her son who attended UWM was a big brother and Paula decided she could do the same. Paula and Kaitlin’s first match outing was to Lake Michigan when Kaitlin just finished 5th grade. From there, they took things day by day. Paula didn’t know how long the match would last but over 5 years later and they’re still going strong. One of the best things about being a big for Paula is that she can show Kaitlin things from a different prescriptive as well as Kaitlin can show Paula all the new trends and technology today! Kaitlin was just a little 5th grader when her and Paula first were matched and now Kaitlin is in high school as Paula joked that now it’s like Kaitlin is her big from how much she has grown as a person. We know they will always have a life long friendship, thank you for your volunteer service Paula 🙂
