Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of children and youth, primarily through a professionally-supported one-to-one relationship with a caring adult, and to assist them in achieving their highest potential as they grow to become confident,competent and caring individuals.

Our vision to develop and nurture successful mentoring relationships for all children who need and want them, contributing to better schools, brighter futures, and stronger communities for all.

It's easy to understand if you try this simple exercise: Think back to when you were younger. Other than your parents, who touched your life in some simple but special way? Who was that person you always remember with a smile? Maybe it was your aunt who taught you her "secret recipe", or your next door neighbor who let you help him fix his car. Or maybe it was someone who took you to a ball game, or a picnic at the beach, or showed you how to catch fireflies in a jar. And maybe it was someone who just included you in an everyday activity because it was fun for you both.

Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is about sharing simple, magical moments like these with a child. Each of us had a special person who opened doors and widened our horizons on the world. By being a "Big", you can do the same for a child, and you both will be forever changed by the experience.

Our Kids

We serve kids ages 6 - 17 (need to enroll by age 13). While most of our "Little Brothers and Little Sisters" are from single-parent families, our programs are available to any child that wants or needs an additional positive role model. To enroll your child in one of our programs, you simply need to call our office and ask to talk to one of our professional staff members. The process involves completing an application and a home visit to interview the parent and child. Matches are made based on common interests, location, and the preferences requested by the parent and volunteer. We contact parents as soon as we find the best candidate for their child.

Kids Ready for Some "Magic"

• Our Big Brothers Big Sisters agency currently has 106 kids that are ready to be matched to a Big Brother, Big Sister, Big Teen, Big Family or Big Couple willing to share an average of just one hour a week. That is all it takes. Just one hour a week sharing Little Moments will bring Big Magic into the life of a child. You can make a big difference by just sharing simple everyday activities with a child. Comments from some of our Bigs say it all. Big Sister Darlene states, “I can’t believe what a difference just one hour a week can make”. Big Brother Ken says, “I wish I had known earlier how much fun it is to be a Big Brother”. Big Sister Helen states, “I love knowing I have a lunch date with my Little Sister Emma every Thursday”.
